We arrived in Rome by train after leaving the ruins at Pompeii.  Our first Airbnb was just a stone’s throw from the Vatican, but it started to rain so we decided to spend a lazy day catching up on our rest.  So much traveling and sightseeing can be a bit overwhelming at times, so we take lazy days every so often to just chill:  order food, watch movies, nap, work on the blog, and plan our next journey.

After our day of rest, we moved to a different Airbnb a bit closer to the city center.  The place is called Carini Guesthouse and is run by a really cool guy named Phil who has a really thick New York accent.  He’s from Naples but lived in New York City for many years.

Phil was great.  He had fresh breakfast ready for us every morning and gave us the whole run down of the city.

The next several days were filled with lots of sightseeing and really good food!

For our last day, we took a train out to Santa Marinella, a beach community not far from Rome.  It was nice to get out of the crowded city and find some serenity by the ocean.

The next day we said goodbye to Phil and Rome and went to catch our train.  We stopped in Florence only for a night to rest and then continued on our journey north.  Up next….Zurich!  Stay tuned.
