We left Zurich, Switzerland for Munich on July 7th:  this time not by train, but by FlixBus.  We discovered that the bus system in Europe is quite efficient and also very inexpensive.  We scored a front row seat, where we watched cars fly by at 100 mph on the Autobahn.

We also changed things up a bit in Munich and stayed in a hotel rather than an Airbnb.  We found a nice place with a room that came equipped with guess what…a fully functioning air conditioner!!

We spent 3 nights in Munich and took in all the cheap beer and tasty schnitzel we could.  We started at Marienplatz in the city center and then the famous Hofbräuhaus for eats.

We made our way to one of the oldest beer gardens in Munich called Augustiner Keller.  The beer flows like a river from huge wooden kegs into 35oz glass steins, with one guy operating what looks like a gasoline nozzle connected to a thick hose.  You have two choices of beer:  light or dark.  People come here to drink beer and large quantities of it.  Don’t even think of asking for water unless you want to get a funny look and a glass of luke warm tap.

We met some awesome people and had a jolly good time.  Even a brief torrential downpour did not stop us!!  We even stumbled upon a massive street festival too.

We spent our last day hanging by our hotel where we took in more rain, a strange puppet show, and the Fun Can Do! music festival which brought together a crowd of 20 to 30 (not thousand, just 20-30 people).
